Unique leather bags - designed & handmade in Yorkshire

Do you love leather bags as much as I do?
I love the smell of leather when I go into my workshop. Nothing beats the feel of it either.
For me, working with leather, wood and fabric is a treat.
I opened an Etsy shop in 2017 thinking I would fill it with all sorts of handmade items.
But then life got in the way (in a good way) and it was not until spring 2020 before I found out how much I love making bags.
So why the name Wash the Piglet? What does it mean?
Wash the piglet is a Dutch phrase. If you wash that piglet, it means you'll sort it out or you'll do the job. Get on with it :-)

My oma (Dutch word for grandmother) taught me how to knit, crochet and sew.
After secondary school I was lucky enough to be accepted into fashion college.
All though it has never been my main job, making & crafting has always been a huge part of my life.

When the local saddler gave me a huge bag of leather offcuts, I started making bags.
Washbags, small handbags, pencil cases and wallets.
All made of discarded materials and remnants.
Although I now buy all my materials new at British leather suppliers, I to work as sustainable as possible.
I pack my orders in used boxes and recycle all packing materials.

A leather bag is often for life. What is not to like?
